Norman Miller, a prominent local educator and clarinetist with the San Luis Obispo Wind Orchestra passed away in 2001. The Norman Miller Memorial Music Scholarship was founded in 2002 by the San Luis Obispo Wind Orchestra, friends and family to aid young musicians in their study of music.
The 2013 scholarship is open to woodwind, brass and percussion players attending a two or four year institution of higher learning (state, private, or conservatory) within San Luis Obispo County or northern Santa Barbara County.
Applicants must be full time students at the college or university. Applicants need not be majoring in music; however it is highly desirable that they be pursuing a professional career in music. Applicants must demonstrate exceptional music ability.

The Scholarship amount is $600.

Applications (including the 'Statement of Experiences and Goals') must be received on or before Saturday, May 4, 2013.

Live Auditions will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013.

Results will be announced on or before Saturday, May 25, 2013.
- Presentation of the scholarship will take place at the Chamber Concert II on Sunday, June 2, 2013. The scholarship recipient will be expected to attend the concert.
